Welcome to Anatomy and Physiology at Marvin Ridge High School!

This begins my third year at Marvin and I am excited to help you understand the role and function of the human body systems and how this course can prepare you for a future career in the medical field.

The study of anatomy prepares you for a wide range of opportunities. As well as a thorough understanding of the human body, skills gained in Anatomy and Physiology courses include laboratory skills, problem-solving, working as part of a team and research and presentation skills. These skills will enable a foundation for further study after college in professions as diverse as forensic science, teaching, science communication, exercise physiology, medical sales and scientific research as a research assistant.

In college you can prepare for career fields in medicine, physiotherapy, podiatry and prosthetics and orthotics, or to undertake a PhD after you have received a Master's degree to become a research scientist or to follow an academic career.

Some of our anatomy graduates have pursued careers in:

  • research centers and academic institutions
  • pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies
  • private sector hospitals, medical centers and healthcare organisations
  • scientific publishing firms
  • scientific sales and marketing companies.

This semester will provide challenging and creative ways to understand the connection between the human body systems and their integration.
