Brain Blast !

Each 6 weeks I will be posting 12 random brainteasers. For correct answers, students will receive 1/6 of a point toward final average (total of 12 each 6 weeks--potential 2 points added to final average).  All participants must EMAIL ME to receive credit. (unless it is a visual puzzle, in which case you can write your answer down and bring it to me.) I will keep track of cumulative points. Good Luck!

Course Summary: Math 2 continues students' study of advanced algebraic concepts including linear, quadratic, exponential, common logs, non-linear systems, and advanced functions(including Inverse Variation, Sine, Cosine, and Tangent).  Students will also be introduced to congruence, transformations, and right triangle trigonometry.  Students will be expected to recognize graphic, algebraic, numeric, and verbal representations of relations and use these representations to solve problems when applicable.  Emphasis will be placed on higher-order thinking skills that impact practical and increasingly complex applications.  Appropriate technology and tools shall be used regularly for instruction and assessment.

           Goals and Objectives

  • Take responsibility for your own learning by participating and being a contributing classroom member
  • Turn assignments in on time for full credit
  • Experience all of the coursework that will help you be successful in Math 3 next year

Canvas: When students are asked to submit assignments via Canvas, assignments can be submitted in a variety of ways including, uploading files, typing into text boxes, and sharing Google documents/presentations. Students will be shown how to submit assignments on Canvas as needed. Individual assignments will indicate which method of submission on Canvas is expected. If students need a refresher or have questions, they can access the Canvas Student Guide for specific instructions. It is the student's responsibility to ensure assignments are submitted on time and to contact the instructor if there is a problem. Please note that student activity is logged while in Canvas so instructors will be able to see if the student opened the assignment, if there was any activity including a log of student activities during on-line tests and quizzes. Students are not allowed to leave the testing window during assessments. Doing so is considered cheating and will be handled as set forth in the Porter Ridge HS handbook. NOTICE: Although many assignments may be submitted and graded in Canvas, the "final" grades shown may not be properly weighted and do not contain assignments that were not graded in Canvas. For the student's official grades, please continue to access the parent portal through Powerschool. Login information is usually sent home with the students at the beginning of the year, and should be the same as last year. If you need assistance accessing the parent portal, please contact the school.
