Loose leaf paper and graph paper

Pencils – all work will be completed in pencil

Notebook – A 3-Ring binder with both loose-leaf and graph paper is required.  Handouts will be hole punched so that they can easily be kept in the notebook.

Homework should also be kept in the notebook, labeled with date and topic.

Homework

Expect to have nightly homework assignments.  These will be checked in class on a daily basis.  Students should ask questions about problems that they do not understand or worked incorrectly.  Students should rework homework problems as part of their preparation for tests and quizzes.  Homework will be collected for a grade as determined necessary.  Answers without work will NOT be accepted.  Late assignments will not be accepted unless a student was absent.

Tutoring

Tutoring will be available in the mornings.  Students must request to come for tutoring to ensure that I am available and to be permitted entry into the building.  Exact days and times will be posted on Canvas.  Students should come to tutoring sessions with questions to ask.

Expectations

Be in your seat ready and have your pencils sharpened before the tardy bell rings.  Have your homework and yellow sheet out on your desk to review. Complete the Warm Up when given.

You will NOT be allowed to share calculators during a quiz or test.

Bathroom visits should be done between classes.  You can leave class to use the bathroom for an emergency only.  Please sign out and back in on the clipboard provided.  You are responsible for any material or information that you miss while you are out of the classroom.

Cell phones will be placed in shoe rack containing calculators before the tardy bell rings.

No earbuds, etc. in your ears at any time that there are class discussions, lectures, etc. even if you are not listening to anything.

Please raise your hand if you have a question.  No question is stupid.  If you do not understand something, there are other people who also do not understand it.

Individual questions about your grades should not be asked during the lesson.  You can ask me during independent work time or you can email me your question.

Consequences

Students will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Parents will be contacted as necessary.

Discipline referrals will be written as necessary.

Attendance

If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up the work that you missed in the allotted amount of time.  Be sure that your notebook is up to date with all of the notes that you missed.  Information can be found in Canvas or on the announcement board in the classroom.  Also, feel free to email me with questions.  Students will receive a “1” in power school for the work missed due to being absent until the makeup work is submitted. Students will be expected to turn in assignments/take quizzes or tests on the day that they return if they were present when they were assigned.  It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with me if they have a question or concern about when items must be turned in due to being absent.  Note, math builds upon itself so it is important that students get caught up as soon as possible.

Technology

Computers and our online learning platform, Canvas will be used as a tool to aid in classroom instruction.  However, much of Math II will be done with paper, pencil and calculator.  Therefore, there will be times when it will be necessary to put computers away and do the mathematical computations to comprehend the topic.

Tardy Policy

At CATA, instruction is very important.  All students are expected to be in their classroom and ready to receive instruction before the tardy bell rings for each class.  Following the tardy bell, students who are not in first period class must report to the front office for a tardy pass.  During the rest of the day, teachers will mark students tardy in the PowerSchool Attendance System.  Only students with a tardy pass will be admitted after the tardy bell rings for first period.

1st/2nd Tardy: Warning from an administrator in the front office (1st period) and the teacher in the classroom (all periods).

3rd Tardy: Warning from an administrator in the front office (1st period) and the teacher in the classroom (all periods).  The teacher will contact the parent on the third tardy by phone.
