Regina Dill, Grades 6-8 Math

  • We believe it is important for students to stay as close to the UCPS MS Math pacing guides as possible.  We thoughtfully make daily and weekly decisions about filling gaps in student learning while teaching grade level material.
  • Students will receive at least one grade daily.  This grade is mostly based on participation and based on 100 points.  Assessment grades will be based on a student’s ability to apply the instructional content to new math problems including taught skills and the points value will vary.
  • Missed days will be recorded as a ‘0’ until the student completes the make-up work that can be found in CANVAS (videos with questions through EdPuzzle) Completed make-up work will be worth 70 points.
  • We give students Math Money for immediate feedback on positive behavior and academic performance. These feedbacks are recorded in our behavior data system and we have a drawing on Fridays for a prize.
  • We have clear expectations for each part of our lessons and they are posted throughout our daily class presentations along with the consequences for not meeting the expectations.
  • We do not have homework at South Providence School but students can do IXL or make-up work at home to meet leveling expectations and maintain passing grades.
  • On Fridays students will have the opportunity to receive extra help on the skills from the previous week if they still have not mastered them. This work can raise their previous low assessment grades.
  • Please contact Mrs. Dill or Mr. Mahaffey with any questions.
