Ms. Dilsworth’s Earth Science Syllabus                       EMAIL:  kristeen.dilsworth@ucps.k12.nc.us

Course Syllabus & Expectations: I am very excited to have you in Earth Science this semester. Earth Science is a one-semester required course. This includes three six-week grading periods and a teacher-made Final Exam. Earth Science is not a lab intensive course, though hands-on activities will be included when possible.

HONORS AND COLLEGE PREP (CP) PROGRAMS:  At CHS, Earth and Environmental Science blends the Honors and College Prep students into the same class. Honors students are responsible for mastering the same curriculum goals and objectives as the College Prep students and will take the same unit tests and final exam. However, Honors students are expected to perform at an advanced level in day-to-day lessons. They can expect to have higher level extension assignments, activities, quiz/test questions, projects, etc., beyond the College Prep program, and their GPA will be calculated using the Honors Program scale. Though students in the Honors program will have more rigorous work to accomplish, the emphasis is more on “quality” than “quantity.” More information about the College Prep and Honors programs can be found in the UCPS High School Handbook.

Absent: If you are absent, you are responsible for completing any assignments or class work that you missed. Check CANVAS for any make-up work. It is your job to check CANVAS, complete the make-up work and to turn it in. I give two days to finish any missing work due to an illness. Make-up tests will be given before or after school only.
