Course Syllabus

  • Course Objectives/Standards:  7th grade social studies focuses on World History from the 1400s-present day.  Explore the new state social studies standards from NCDPI HERE (Links to an external site.).
  • Class materials:  Composition "cow" notebook and pencils/pens
  • Wish List: Tissues, Hand Sanitizer, Colored Paper
  • Grading:  Grades are updated at least once a week in Canvas and PowerSchool.  Student feedback is provided for each assignment in Canvas or on paper, if the assignment is not digital.  PowerSchool should be used to determine student grades.  Canvas is used to share digital content and assignments.  Students and parents can look at "Grades" in Canvas to see if assignments are missing.
  • Make-up Policy:  Late work can be turned in throughout the current 6 week grading period.  Deadlines are posted for each Canvas assignment and end of grading period deadlines will be communicated through "Canvas Announcements".  Also, students are allowed to re-do most assignments in Canvas for a higher grade if desired.  If you decide to re-do an assignment it must be resubmitted in Canvas.  Digital assignments are ONLY graded in Canvas.
  • Parent Portal: Learn about how to become a Canvas parent observer HERE (Links to an external site.).  Canvas parent checklist HERE (Links to an external site.).  To obtain parent access to PowerSchool, guardians will need to show their ID to someone in the front office in order to obtain a PowerSchool code.  Parents are encouraged to download both the Canvas and PowerSchool Apps on their cell phones.
