I have been teaching for 20 years and received my Elementary Education degree from UNCC in 2000.  I went back to school in 2006 and received my AIG certification from UNCC.  I also have obtained my National Board certification. In 2010, I decided I had not been to school enough so I enrolled at Gardner Webb and received a Masters Degree in Executive Leadership (School Administration) from Gardner Webb in 2012.  I have also been trained in Paideia Seminar by the National Institute of Paideia located in Asheville, NC.  During my teaching career, I have taught as a classroom teacher in Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades.  I also taught as an AIG teacher/facilitator for the majority of my teaching career.  While serving as an AIG teacher I taught 2nd - 5th grades in literacy and math.   As you can tell, I have a passion for teaching and learning and instill this in my own children as well as yours, that you are always life long learners in some way or another.

I was born right outside of Boston but have spent most of my life in Charlotte.  I still live in Charlotte with my husband Jason.  We have three children - Brandon who is 29, Kylie who is 17 and a senior this year (we are waiting on college responses to see where next year takes us), and Isabella who is 15 and in 11th grade.  The girls are active in their high school, are on the boards of school clubs, and very social, so most nights and weekends you will find me surrounded by a group of high school students (who are #chosenfamily), two high school girls and their outside activities and social events keep me busy:-)   We also have a Cavanese dog named Jagger, who is 8. My passion, interests, and hobbies MUSIC and ART!!  I love listening to music and going to concerts.  I have a wide variety of taste in music and love finding new artists to listen to as well as all my favorites.  Your kids will be able to tell you Adam Levine is my favorite.  I also enjoy watching professional football (Patriots and Panthers) and college basketball (Duke)!  I enjoy all the artwork in Noda and Plaza Midwood (especially the murals on the outside of the buildings in those areas - created by local artists - my girls and I have volunteered and help paint several of them).

Seventeen of my previous teaching experience had been in Charlotte, but I am VERY EXCITED to have now been a part of Shiloh Valley for 3 years.  I look forward to watching your children learn and grow in their own way to become successful, responsible, motivated, and kind individuals.  I have instilled in them that during the school day we are all part of a school family and I am excited to be a part of your families!
