Course Description:  This course is a combination of both Health and Physical Education with a strong emphasis on Fitness.  Each part will be graded equally to determine the final mark. This class is a graduation requirement, failure is not an option

Course Goals: Students will come out with a better understanding of fitness as well as health issues that are dealt with every day.

Required Materials: Comfortable clothing such as sneakers, sweat pants, shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts (workout clothing only).  NO: flip flops, loafers, boots, jeans, tank tops, cut-off shirts, or clothing that may be distracting.

Participation:

  1. Students are expected to dress out and participate every day whether at home or in school.
  2. The only excuse is an injury that is too severe to participate which should be determined by a physician, and a DOCTORS NOTE IS REQUIRED. (STUDENT IS STILL REQUIRED TO DRESS OUT WHILE IN SCHOOL AND THE TEACHER WILL GIVE AN ALTERNATE OR MODIFIED PLAN)
  3. If a student chooses not to dress out or participate, the student should inform the teacher as attendance is taken. This will result in a zero for the day and cannot be made up.  NO STUDENT IS ALLOWED IN THE LOCKER ROOM IF THEY ARE NOT DRESSED OUT OR PARTICIPATING THAT DAY.
  4.           Canvas Assignments: All canvas assignments are due by 11:59pm Sunday of the same week.  Once the assignment time is closed it will not be re-open.  Any assignment (Phys. Ed or Health) turned in past its scheduled due date will result in a 10% deduction/day. (The workouts that are posted each day are due by 11:59 the next night for full credit. For example: A workout given on Monday, must be turned in by 11:59 on Tuesday night.)

Locker Room:

  1. Locker rooms will be accessible during class time only with enforcement of social distancing and daily disinfecting and appropriate cleaning measures.
  2. All bags must be taken with you after class.  No storage will be allowed during the school day or overnight.

GRADING

*Any assignment (Phys. Ed or Health) turned in past its scheduled due date will result in a 10% deduction/day.

LIVE MEETINGS SCHEDULE:

We will be live in Microsoft Teams on Monday’s and Friday’s only (first week we will be live each day):

1st block Live- 8:20am

2nd block Live- 9:55am

3rd block Live- 11:25am

4th block Live- 1:30pm

EXPECTATIONS OF IN PERSON LEARNING ON YOUR ASSIGNED DAY:

  • GO INTO CANVAS EACH DAY YOU ARE IN PERSON AND INSTEAD OF COMPLETING THE ASSIGNMENT, SIMPLY TYPE “IN CLASS TODAY” SO THAT CANVAS DOES NOT DEDUCT POINTS.  FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN LOST POINTS EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE IN SCHOOL.
  • Bring a change of clothes with you, clothing needs to be appropriate workout clothing.  Shorts (appropriate length), tshirts (no cut offs, no tank tops, no midriffs showing), sweatpants, leggings, sweatshirts, sneakers, etc.

EXPECTATIONS OF AT HOME LEARNING WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN PERSON:

  • On days that we go live you need to be logged in, on time, microphones off, cameras on.  We will call attendance during all live meetings and we expect you to answer to let us know that you are present.  We do ask that you have your cameras on so we see that you remain present and know you are paying attention.  School dress code applies to Microsoft Teams just like it would if you were in school.
  • It is expected that you complete your work and complete it on time.  The work given for days at home is not difficult if you just do it.  You will have assignments every single day, so be sure to make time.  Assignments will open at the beginning of each school day and will close upon the due date and time.  No assignments will be re-open.

EXPECTATIONS OF VIRTUAL ACADEMY STUDENTS THAT DO NOT COME IN FOR IN PERSON:

  • All of the above applies to you as well aside from anything for the face to face scenario.
  • You are expected to be on the live meetings along with the rest of you class
  • You are expected to complete all assignments by the given due date
  • You will have an assignment each and every day, so there will be no “IN CLASS TODAY” option for you.
  • Your assignments will be no different than what we do in class, or days not in class.  If you have any questions on an exercise you don’t understand, etc. please be sure to ask before submitting the assignment so that you get full credit for doing it correctly.
