Course Description:

Students will investigate biological systems at the molecular, cellular, and macrobiological level. Throughout the semester there will be numerous labs and inquiry activities to supplement instruction and to gain a better understanding of the content (these will be modified to ensure the COVID-19 guidelines are maintained), so it is mandatory that you fill out the lab safety contract.  If this is not done, you will not be able to participate in the labs.  Reading assignments will be assigned on a regular basis in this class.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  1. Binder or Notebook
  2. Pencils and Pens
  3. Highlighters
  4. Headphones that work with your Chromebook, this is extremely important!!!

Expectations 

Adherence to the following guidelines will insure a safe and enjoyable year for everyone:

  • Be courteous and respectful to your teacher and classmates.
  • Follow the classroom procedures everyday/every time.
  • Come to class on time and prepared to work (this includes your virtual class sessions).
  • Follow ALL safety rules and procedures.
  • Uphold high standards of effort and achievement.
  • Only positive attitudes in my classroom.
  • Turn in your work on time

 

Consequences

 

  • First Violation – Verbal warning.
  • Second Violation – Student teacher discussion
  • Third Violation – Parent/Guardian Contact

If the violation is a major offense, you will be written up for disciplinary action immediately.

 

Grading:

90-100 = A

80-89 = B

70-79 = C

60-69 = D

59 and below = F

 

Each semester grade is calculated by the following percentages:

  • Tests/Projects – 40% (one test per unit)
  • Quizzes – 20% (minimum one per unit)
  • Classwork/Labs – 40%

Late Work

All assignments are due on Thursdays at 11:59PM

1 day late (Fridays at 11:59PM) = full credit

*Due to change at the end of grading terms.*

More than one day late = no credit
