The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) defines engineering as “the profession in which knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences, gained by study, experience, and practice, is applied with judgment to develop ways to use, economically, the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind.” Most career choices will involve the use of technology. An understanding of engineering and technology and its impact is essential to today’s students and our future society.

In this lesson, students will learn about STEM careers and how they impact our world. You will keep a PLTW Gateway Notebook that includes a section for your engineering notebook and portfolio.
