Course Syllabus

Welcome parents and students!  I am so thrilled to be teaching English 1 as the AIG 8th grade course option at HSA@MMS.  English 1 Literature is so incredible, and I am delighted to be able to share my love of the literature with you.  Some of the things we will be reading this year include:

Short stories by Edgar Allen Poe

Anthem by Ayn Rand

Animal Farm by George Orwell

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Odyssey by Homer

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

In addition to reading great literature, we will be incorporating the following into our weekly routines:

Vocabulary (stems and high frequency words for high school literature)

Grammar

Writing

Socratic Seminar

Project-Based Learning

Book Clubs
