Course Description and Course Goals

Freshman Focus is divided into ten modules. Each module has specific objectives designed to cover the
many social and academic issues and topics that students need to be successful in high school and
beyond. Modules are designed to build from one to the next in both content and intensity. Additionally,
they are meant to be timely so that issues being discussed in Freshman Focus correspond to events and
activities happening at Parkwood as well as in students’ lives. The Freshman Focus curriculum includes
detailed lessons, activities, and discussion guides to complement each of the ten modules. Students will
also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with classmates to complete six project based learning
activities over the course of the year.
