Weight Training Syllabus

 

 

Goals:

-Improve overall muscular strength and endurance

-Improve overall muscular flexibility

-Improve cardiovascular fitness and endurance

-Improve overall body composition

-Improve students overall quickness, explosiveness, and speed.

-Educate students on proper work-out techniques.

 

Class Format: This class will consist of weight training, cardio, and plyometric exercises 4-5 days per week.  With an emphasis on muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility.

-Students will have approximately 10 minutes at the beginning and end of class to shower and change clothes in the old gym locker rooms.

-Each class will begin with a warm-up activity that will last 5-10 minutes.

-Weight training will be held in the weight room, gym, or the track.  There will be a workout plan assigned each day. Students MUST follow each day’s workout plan. Students ARE NOT allowed to do their own workout plan during class.

-Some days we may stay in the gym to play with the PE classes, all students are required to participate in all PE activities when working with those classes.

 

Class Requirements:

-BE ON TIME! The school tardy policy will be enforced.

-Students must dress out APPROPRIATELY for each class. Proper dress includes knee length shorts, proper athletic shoes, T-shirt, or sweats.  No tank-tops, cut offs, short shorts, tights, sandals, headwear, or jewelry may be worn in class.

-All students must participate in all activities during each class, including the warm-up, weight training, fitness activities, and sport activities. Failure to do so will result in a zero for the day.

-Students must remain with the class at all times, students are required to ask before leaving the class

-A student will be excused from a workout if a note from a DOCTOR is provided.  A note from a parent WILL NOT be permitted.                

 

Rules:

-No profanity, No cellphones, No IPod/mp3 players or other electronic devices, no food/drink in the weight room or gym area, do not leave the class without permission, stay with the group at all times, follow all PHS rules/dress code every day. WORK HARD!!!

 

Grading:

-Each student will receive 25 points a day.  To receive full credit you must dress out and participate daily.
