Chemistry is a branch of science that deals mostly with the identification of matter and how they interact with each other.
This is a student-led course, we will be completing as many experiments as possible, and you will be writing research papers.

Section 1: Matter – Properties and Change • Atoms, Ions and Isotopes • Quantum Physics • Radioactivity Section 2: Energy – Conservation and Transfer • Heat and Temperature • Pressure • Collision Theory Section 3: Interactions of Energy and Matter • Rates of Reactions • Acids and Bases • Solubility |
HOW WILL I BE GRADED?
Each term is worth 25% of your final grade, with the final exam (in January) also worth 25%.
Each term, you will be graded using a points system:

Week long research papers. You will be given time in lesson, though likely you’ll have to complete at home. |
Presentations will not be presented (except the last one). Will have time in class to complete, though will be set as homework. |
Time to complete in lesson. Not all worksheets will be graded. |
Given once a topic has been completed. Often practice questions will be given beforehand. |
WHAT WILL I NEED?
- Notebook or folder
- Chromebooks with charger for every lesson
- Scientific calculator is highly recommended (don’t need to buy the graphing variety, $10 scientific calculator will suffice)
