Course Description

Second (Foreign) Language study benefits all students. The study of another language leads to higher scores on standardized tests (reading, math, SAT), greater cognitive development in the areas of mental flexibility, creativity, divergent thinking and higher-order thinking skills, a broader English vocabulary, a better understanding of one’s own language and culture, and enhanced career opportunities.

I expect students to give 100% and to turn in work that is their absolute best.  If sub-standard  work is turned in, I will give students one opportunity to fix it (although full credit will not be awarded).

I am available before or after school for tutoring.  Appointments are required in the morning because students must have a pass to leave the commons area.  In the afternoons, appointments are still preferred but not necessary.  I am not available on Wednesdays due to faculty meetings.

Classroom Expectations:  Posted in the Room (RESPECT, RESTRAINT, AND RESOURCEFULNESS.)

Makeup work: Contact your Absent Buddy immediately, and see Mme Patterson upon your return.  Quizzes are announced days ahead, so you are expected to make up any missed quizzes as soon as possible.

Academic Integrity Code:  Students found guilty of academic misconduct or breaking a test taking rule will have parents contacted and receive a 0 on the assignment.

Extra Credit may be given at times throughout the year.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THAT I AM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS SYLLABUS.  I HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO CLARIFY ANY QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE.
