Math​ ​I​ ​progresses​ ​from​ ​the​ ​standards​ ​learned​ ​in​ ​7th​ ​and​ ​8th​ ​grade​ ​math​ ​classes. In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​these​ ​standards,​ ​Math​ ​I​ ​extends​ ​to​ ​include​ ​introductions​ ​to exponential​ ​and​ ​quadratic​ ​functions.​ ​​ ​As​ ​well​ ​as​ ​systems​ ​of​ ​equations/inequalities and​ ​statistics.

Keys​ ​to​ ​Success
1. Complete​ ​assignments​ ​daily.
2. Take
​ ​clear​ ​and​ ​concise​ ​notes.
3. Study
​ ​daily.​ ​​ ​Read​ ​the​ ​notes/classwork​ ​before​ ​beginning​ ​the​ ​homework. 4. Ask​ ​questions​ ​to​ ​clarify​ ​difficulties.​ ​​ ​Get​ ​help​ ​the​ ​SAME​ ​day.
5. Maintain
​ ​consistent​ ​attendance.

Classroom​ ​Expectations
1. Abide​ ​by​ ​all​ ​school​ ​rules​ ​as​ ​per​ ​student​ ​handbook.​ ​​ ​(Cell​ ​phone​ ​use,​ ​dress

code,​ ​beverages,​ ​computers,​ ​etc...)
2. Be
​ ​punctual​ ​and​ ​attend​ ​class​ ​consistently.
3. Respect
​ ​others​ ​space,​ ​property,​ ​and​ ​person.
4. Use
​ ​positive​ ​communication​ ​skills.​ ​​ ​Be​ ​polite,​ ​courteous,​ ​and​ ​respectful. 5. Come​ ​to​ ​class​ ​with​ ​an​ ​attitude​ ​receptive​ ​to​ ​learning.

Any​ ​deviations​ ​from​ ​the​ ​above​ ​may​ ​result​ ​in​ ​a​ ​reprimand,​ ​a​ ​parent​ ​phone​ ​call,​ ​a referral​ ​or​ ​any​ ​such​ ​combination.
Passes
Bathroom​ ​and​ ​Clinic​ ​passes​ ​are​ ​issued​ ​for​ ​extreme​ ​emergencies​ ​only.​ ​​ ​Every​ ​effort should​ ​be​ ​made​ ​to​ ​visit​ ​the​ ​restroom​ ​between​ ​classes.​ ​​ ​Follow​ ​procedure​ ​discussed in​ ​class.

General​ ​Procedures
You​ ​have​ ​three​ ​expectations​ ​when​ ​you​ ​walk​ ​into​ ​the​ ​classroom.​ ​​ ​Place​ ​homework with​ ​calendar​ ​on​ ​top​ ​into​ ​turn-in​ ​bin.​ ​​ ​Place​ ​phone​ ​in​ ​appropriate​ ​collection​ ​pocket. Begin​ ​warm-up.
Attendance
Please​ ​read​ ​carefully​ ​the​ ​section​ ​in​ ​your​ ​student​ ​handbook​ ​on​ ​attendance. Remember:

  1. It​ ​is​ ​your​ ​responsibility​ ​to​ ​get​ ​all​ ​work​ ​missed​ ​due​ ​to​ ​an​ ​absence.​ ​​ ​All assignments​ ​can​ ​be​ ​found​ ​on​ ​my​ ​canvas​ ​page.

  2. If​ ​you​ ​are​ ​absent​ ​the​ ​test​ ​day​ ​only,​ ​you​ ​will​ ​take​ ​it​ ​during​ ​class​ ​the day​ ​of​ ​your​ ​return.

  3. If​ ​you​ ​are​ ​absent​ ​the​ ​day​ ​of​ ​a​ ​review​ ​session,​ ​you​ ​will​ ​take​ ​the​ ​test​ ​as scheduled.

4. Recovery​ ​time​ ​will​ ​be​ ​required​ ​for​ ​absences​ ​in​ ​excess​ ​of​ ​seven​ ​(7)​ ​classes. Office​ ​Hours
I​ ​am​ ​available​ ​for​ ​additional​ ​help!!!!​ ​​ ​Tutoring​ ​is​ ​available​ ​in​ ​the​ ​mornings​ ​on​ ​Monday and​ ​Wednesdays​ ​at​ ​7:15am.​ ​​ ​If​ ​posted​ ​dates​ ​and​ ​times​ ​do​ ​not​ ​work​ ​for​ ​you,​ ​please speak​ ​with​ ​me​ ​to​ ​work​ ​out​ ​a​ ​good​ ​time​ ​to​ ​meet.​ ​​ ​All​ ​tutoring​ ​takes​ ​place​ ​in​ ​G119.

Supplies

You​ ​will​ ​need​ ​the​ ​following​ ​supplies:​ ​a​ ​1.5​ ​inch​ ​binder​ ​(not​ ​to​ ​be​ ​shared​ ​with​ ​any other​ ​subject),​ ​5​ ​dividers​ ​(we​ ​will​ ​label​ ​in​ ​class​ ​together),​ ​college​ ​ruled,​ ​loose-leaf notebook​ ​paper,​ ​pencils,​ ​erasers​ ​and​ ​a​ ​TI-84​ ​graphing​ ​calculator.
Grading​ ​Procedures​​ ​​The​ ​six​ ​week​ ​grade​ ​will​ ​be​ ​comprised​ ​of​ ​three​ ​categories:

Tests,​ ​Quizzes,​ ​and​ ​Daily​ ​Work.​ ​​ ​No​ ​late​ ​work​ ​is​ ​accepted. Daily​ ​Work​ ​(20%​ ​of​ ​the​ ​term​ ​grade)

Classwork/Homework:​​ ​​5​ ​to​ ​10​ ​points​ ​each​ ​(typically).​ ​​ ​This​ ​section​ ​may include​ ​board​ ​work,​ ​worksheets,​ ​and/or​ ​written

assignments. Quizzes:​ ​(30%​ ​of​ ​the​ ​term​ ​grade)

​ ​Points​ ​and​ ​frequency​ ​vary. Tests:​ ​(50%​ ​of​ ​the​ ​term​ ​grade)

All​ ​tests​ ​may​ ​be​ ​cumulative​ ​and​ ​should​ ​be​ ​studied​ ​for​ ​accordingly.​ ​​ ​Be prepared​ ​to​ ​take​ ​both​ ​calculator​ ​active​ ​and​ ​inactive​ ​tests.​ ​​ ​The​ ​dates​ ​will​ ​be announced​ ​verbally,​ ​and​ ​on​ ​the​ ​calendar​ ​page​ ​in​ ​Canvas.​ ​​ ​It​ ​is​ ​​your responsibility​ ​to​ ​be​ ​aware​ ​of​ ​test​ ​dates.​ ​​ ​Topics​ ​assessed​ ​may​ ​cover classwork,​ ​homework,​ ​and/or​ ​cumulative​ ​material.

Assignments

All​ ​assignments​ ​are​ ​considered​ ​due​ ​at​ ​the​ ​end​ ​of​ ​the​ ​class​ ​period​ ​unless​ ​otherwise stated.​ ​​ ​All​ ​graded​ ​work​ ​is​ ​to​ ​be​ ​done​ ​in​ ​​PENCIL.
Cheating
The​ ​following​ ​will​ ​be​ ​considered​ ​cheating:​ ​​a​ ​cell​ ​phone​ ​visible,​ ​audible,​ ​or​ ​in​ ​use​ ​at any​ ​point​ ​during​ ​an​ ​assessment,​ ​the​ ​use​ ​of​ ​a​ ​calculator​ ​on​ ​a​ ​non-calculator assessment,​ ​copying​ ​or​ ​allowing​ ​others​ ​to​ ​copy​ ​any​ ​portion​ ​of​ ​an​ ​assignment​ ​or assessment,​ ​sharing​ ​any​ ​items​ ​(pencil,​ ​eraser,​ ​calculator,​ ​etc...)​ ​during​ ​an assessment,​ ​talking,​ ​whispering​ ​or​ ​communicating​ ​with​ ​anyone​ ​other​ ​than​ ​Mrs. Mack​ ​during​ ​an​ ​assessment​ ​including​ ​after​ ​your​ ​assessment​ ​has​ ​been​ ​submitted. Cheating​ ​violations​ ​will​ ​result​ ​in​ ​a​ ​zero​ ​for​ ​the​ ​test​ ​or​ ​assignment,​ ​a​ ​parent​ ​phone call,​ ​notification​ ​to​ ​Honor​ ​Society​ ​sponsors​ ​(where​ ​applicable)​ ​and​ ​a​ ​referral.
