What to Expect in Mrs. Nagley’s Study Skill’s Class

My name is Mrs. Nagley and I’m excited to work with you and your child this year.  I have been teaching since 2010, and consider myself a forever student.  I believe in individual growth and taking ownership of your own learning.

Communication

I am a firm believer in the team approach to learning.  The parent teacher relationship is essential to student learning and success.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at any time.  I have a daughter at home, so I will not be checking my e-mail when the school day is over or on weekends or holidays. Please be assured though that I will respond to you in a reasonable amount of time.  E-mail is my preferred method of communication as I can reply faster than with a phone call.  My e-mail is listed below.  Again, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Grades

Your child’s Study Skills grade will be weighted as follows:

Classwork: 50% (any and all activities done in class that can be graded, besides the student agenda assignment)

Participation: 50% (having your agenda and writing down your assignments for all subjects every day.  You will receive 2 points a day for having your agenda. Every student starts with 10 points for the week.  For each day that you do not have your agenda, 2 points will be deducted from your score in Powerschool.)

I encourage you to check Parent Portal at least once a week to keep track of your child’s grades.  Even more so, I encourage them to check it themselves.  Please feel free to contact me if you ever have questions or concerns regarding your child’s grades.
