Grading

Students will receive 20 points per day (100 per week).  Grades are based on participation and behavior and following the rules.  We expect students to put forth 100% effort throughout the entire class period.Teachers should not have to redirect students once directions are given. Students are expected to stay on task.Students should follow rules stated by the teacher for each activity. Although students are not required to wear a PE uniform, they are required to wear footwear that is appropriate for physical activity.  Additionally, students must wear clothing that is neither tight nor restrictive of movement.  Students will not earn their points if they cannot participate due to inappropriate clothing. Students will also lose their daily points for not following directions of the teacher or any behavior that is inappropriate in class (including gum chewing after warning).  Students who do not dress out are not allowed in the locker room.

Medical Excuses

A doctor’s note is required to be excused from PE. Notes from parents cannot and will not be accepted for more than one day. Because of the serious nature of concussions, they must be reported via a doctor’s note and the parent needs to contact the PEteacher. All medical notes must contain: 1) diagnosis, 2)limitations, and 3)date the child can return to PE. If the original medical note does not contain the date of return, a separate medical note is required. Students that are excused from participating in PE will have a written sportsand healthcurriculum activity to complete in class for their daily grade.  If a student is unable to participate in PE, they will be given an alternate assignment to do which should be completed during their PE class time and submitted to their teacher for full credit.
