Apparel and Textile Production I - In this course students are introduced to the Apparel and Textile industry in the areas of design, textiles and apparel engineering. Emphasis is placed on students applying these design and engineering skills to create and produce apparel products. Art, literacy, mathematics, and science are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include service learning. Projects include: Felt animals , drawstring bags, zipper bags, pajama pants. This course also introduces you to basic sewing and pressing equipment, textiles, introductory level project construction techniques, and techniques for constructing edge finishes. We will be having fun while we create projects!
Honors Apparel and Textile Production I- Students gain a deeper understanding of design principles, engineering, fabrication and global needs of an ever-changing Apparel and Textile industry. The course provides a major focus on textile design, textile science, product construction, global manufacturing and the apparel/textile market. Emphasis is placed on application of design and engineering skills used to create, produce and prepare a product for market. Students will also gain the entrepreneurial skills necessary for successful marketing and distribution of an apparel product.

2 yards of light weight cotton fabric
(2) Black and (2) White Coats and Clark thread
Expectations:
Follow school rules
Be here on time
Have materials and supplies on time
No cell phones/other devices unless I say so
No food/drinks near equipment
Limit request to leave room
Avoid excessive talking
Use time wisely
Do your own work and work independently
Use your own assigned equipment. Take care of machine and supplies.
Keep personal work and storage space
Charges for broken machines/other equipment will be determined if necessary

State Assessment - Students enrolled in Apparel & Textile Production I will take a 100 question state assessment at the end of the semester as the final measurement of proof of learning. This assessment will be given during the final week of the semester as their final exam. The student’s grade for this assessment will count 25% and will be posted in PowerSchool as well as on their report card.
Tutoring Hours: Tuesday 7:15-8:00 am, Thursday 2:55-3:40 Please let me know when you will be coming for tutoring.
