Course Syllabus

Welcome to World History! This course used to cover the entire span of human history from prehistory to the present but is now more focused on the period from 1200 CE to the present. We will cover themes in history such as: Interaction & Movement, Culture, Revolution, Technology, Conflict and Human Rights.

This is my 21st year of teaching & my 15th at Weddington High School. I used to only teach World History, but in the past 10 years have taught AP Psychology mostly along with some World History. I'm excited to get into the new curriculum this year and explore some of the, "Whys" and "Hows" of history with you. I also coach Cross Country & Track.

All assignments for this class will be posted under "Modules" to the left. Grades will be updated regularly but PowerSchool may be the most accurate grade- not what you see in Canvas. Theoretically, they are synched but I learned last year that's not always the case. 40% of your grade comes from Tests & Projects, 30% from Classwork & Homework, 20% from Quizzes & 10% from Class Participation. You will be given a fairly large assignment for each Unit that will be due the day of the Unit test. That assignment comprises most of your Classwork/Homework grade. You probably won't have much homework if you make use of your time in class. Late work will be accepted with a 10 points per day penalty.
