Welcome to Math 2! In this class, we will cover the basic, important concepts to prepare you for high school and college math. There is a great deal of material to cover, and not a lot of time to cover it. We will be learning something new almost daily, and the material builds on itself. Therefore, if you miss a day, or don’t practice the concepts, it is easy to fall behind. I ask that you set goals on the first day and work hard to reach them ALL year and not just at the beginning and end of the Syllabus. I am here to help you reach your goals!

Upon the successful completion of this class, one Math credit is earned, which is required for graduation.

PLC Grading Policy (Subject to Change)

Grades are determined by a point system:

Every question you answer is worth 2 points.  You can receive partial credit on a question. This means that the point total of any assessment is based on the number of items on the assessment.

Students will be allowed to redo quizzes, but they must first either attend a Jacket Time session to receive assistance or stay for tutoring as proof that they are reviewing.

Practice Work ~15%

Practice work (homework and classwork) is your opportunity to practice what you have been learning. Practice work will be graded daily.

Other

Binder/Notebook checks will be graded either by me taking them up, or by a quiz that asks you to find selected information in your organized binder and/or interactive notebook.

The FINAL EXAM will count as 25% of your overall grade and is a challenging teacher-made test. Students may exempt if they satisfy one of the following conditions:

Do not assume you exempt! The teacher will tell you if you do.
