Attendance Expectations: You are required to attend the “Teams Meeting” each day. Most days we will do a warm up together and review together. Most days will have a video that I created teaching the lesson so that you can work at a pace that fits your learning style. If you miss a teams meeting you are expected to watch the video lesson on your own and email me to let me know.

Attendance required from 9:00-9:45.

Assignment Expectations: You are expected to turn in assignments daily so that you can receive feedback through Canvas. The feedback given is vital so that you can understand your mistakes when they occur and so that you can redo assignments. However, you do have until Friday each week to turn in assignments before they are counted late.

Online Learning Platforms:

Canvas: Must check each day. It will be used to post daily notes, videos, assessments, assignments, and announcements.

Desmos: a free online calculator (also an app) and will be used to explore topics.

DeltaMath: will be used for assignments and assessments

Contact Information: If there is any concern or anything you feel I need to know, do not hesitate to email me at jonathan.saffles@ucps.k12.nc.us

The majority of assignments not completed on paper must be submitted on the learning platforms assigned by me.  Assignments can be submitted a variety of ways: uploading files, and typing into text boxes.  Students will be shown how to submit assignments on the learning platforms as needed.  Individual assignments will indicate which method of submission is expected.  If students need a refresher or have questions for Canvas, they can access the Canvas Student Guide for specific instructions.  It is the student's responsibility to ensure assignments are submitted on time and to contact the instructor if there is a problem. Please note that student activity is logged while in the learning platforms so instructors will be able to see if the student opened the assignment, if there was any activity including a log of student activities during on-line tests and quizzes.  Students are not allowed to leave the testing window during assessments.  Doing so is considered cheating and will be handled as set forth in the Porter Ridge HS handbook.

NOTICE: Although many assignments are submitted and graded in our learning platform, Canvas, the "final" grades shown may not be properly weighted and do not contain assignments that were not graded in Canvas.  For the student's official grades, please continue to access the parent portal through Powerschool. Login information should be the same as last year. If you need assistance accessing the parent portal, please contact the school.”
