COURSE DESCRIPTION
The ADOBE VISUAL DESIGN course focuses on graphic image design using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator and desktop publishing design using Adobe InDesign.  Students will work toward passing the Adobe Certified Associate Exam for each of these Adobe CC software programs.

Communication skills and critical thinking are reinforced through hands-on projects utilizing software applications.  Simulations, projects, teamwork, FBLA & DECA leadership activities, meetings, conferences, and competitions provide opportunities for application of instructional competencies.

MATERIALS REQUIRED
Headphones (will be used often)
A writing utensil
Folder/Binder (may be left in the classroom)

INSTRUCTIONAL PHILOSOPHY
In Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Career Readiness classes, students are expected to work on their own, in pairs, and in groups throughout the semester. Students will complete many hands on projects utilizing various software applications.  Students will be empowered and encouraged to be active participants in their own learning process.

COURSE STANDARDS
UNIT ONE: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP - Students will apply procedures to use Adobe Photoshop for visual communications. 
1.01         Understand project requirements using photographs
1.02         Understand digital images
1.03         Understand Adobe Photoshop CC interface
1.04         Apply procedures to create images using Adobe Photoshop CC 
1.05         Apply procedures to publish digital images using Adobe Photoshop CC   

UNIT TWO: ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR - Students will apply procedures to use Adobe Illustrator for visual communications. 
2.01         Understand project requirements for vector graphics
2.02         Understand digital graphics and illustrations
2.03         Understand the Adobe Illustrator CC interface
2.04         Apply procedures to create digital graphics and illustrations using Adobe Illustrator CC
2.05         Apply procedures to archive, export, and publish graphics using Adobe Illustrator CC

UNIT THREE: ADOBE InDESIGN - Students will apply procedures to use Adobe InDESIGN for visual communications. 
3.01         Understand project requirements for graphic layouts

3.02         Understand print and digital media publications using Adobe InDesign CC
3.03         Understand the Adobe InDesign interface
3.04         Apply procedures to create print and digital media publications using Adobe InDesign CC
3.05         Apply procedures to publish, export, and archive page layouts using Adobe InDesign CC

100 – 90 = A                                                                                       
  89 – 80 = B                                                                                           
  79 – 70 = C                                                                                           
  69 –60 = D                                                                                  
  59 or below = F
75% of semester grade: Daily work, tests/quizzes, projects
25% of semester grade: Final Exam
