What is Social Darwinism? It is a term used to describe the ideologies that became popular in the late 19th century where Charles Darwin's theories of natural selection were applied to human society. Think "Survival of the Fittest."
Social Darwinist extremism eventually led to many programs across Europe and the U.S. where society encouraged socially "fit" people and "unfit" people were sterilized by force. Social Darwinist views eventually culminated in the Holocaust with the mass genocide of Jews, racial minorities, Romani people, the disabled, and homosexuals.
