Course Syllabus

7th Grade Math—Mrs. Conklin

2015-2016  East Union Middle School

Course Description:

The class includes skills and concepts from the grade 7 Common Core State Standards.  Individual teachers will address all objectives which will prepare students to be successful on the North Carolina End of Grade Tests.

Text:  Glencoe Mathematics & Carnegie Learning

All students will have access to a hard copy (when needed) while in school and an electronic copy (when needed) while at home.

Evaluations:

Progress reports will be given halfway through each six weeks and a report card at the end of each six weeks.  Progress reports and report cards should be signed and returned on the following day they are issued.

Requirements:

Students are expected to do the work as it is assigned.  Students who fail to keep up with the work or have low grades will be held in from activity period to complete/re-do assignments.  All work is expected to have the student’s name on it.  No ink will be allowed in math.  Pencils, homework, and notes are to be brought to class daily.  Students will not be allowed to return to lockers to retrieve work.  I know we all forget things from time to time, but I find it rude to interrupt another teacher by sending children back to lockers.

Students should write down their homework daily in their agenda.  Please check to see if your child is doing their homework; it is necessary for students to practice outside of the classroom.

Behavioral Expectations:

Be respectful:  be a good listener, keep your body and other objects to yourself, and respond appropriately to others.

Be responsible:  be on time, take care of school property, complete assigned tasks, and be in the right place and the right time.

Be prepared:  bring all materials to class, bring completed homework to class, and have a positive learner’s attitude.
