Necessary Supplies

  • Pencils (please replenish often)
  • Colored pencils/markers
  • You may bring pens of any color to write with
  • Highlighter
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Two composition notebooks
    • One for writing about reading
    • One for notes and structured writing

 

Grading Policy

Your student will be graded on a number of assignments each six weeks.  Here is a list of typical assignments.

  • Quizes (15%)
  • Classwork and reading responses (45%
  • Homework (10%)
  • Projects/essays/tests (30%)

Late work will not receive full credit. (-10 points a day)

 

Classroom Expectations

  • Be Responsible.
    • Enter and leave the room only when given permission.
    • When you enter the classroom, enter quietly and go directly to your seat.
    • Take detailed notes.
    • Take care of the equipment. Clean up after yourself.
  • Be Respectful.
    • One person speaks at a time, raise your hand for your turn.
    • Anytime the instructor is speaking, you are quietly listening and following instructions.
    • Please write down anything important that you might not remember later.
    • If an adult or guest enters the room and attempts to speak, you are to immediately become silent and show the guest respect and active listening.
    • The furniture is new, therefore, we don't chew gum or eat during class.
  • Be Prepared.
    • Bring Two sharpened pencils to class
    • Have all materials with you when you come to class. No locker breaks during class time.
    • You are in class for the first 5 minutes and last 10 minutes at every class, regardless of any restroom or other need
