HONORS Film Production Studio II Syllabus

IN THIS COURSE STUDENTS WILL:
*Learn and demonstrate proficiency of professional video editing techniques using Adobe Premiere Pro CC and related software.
*Learn components of the Adobe Creative Suite CC including Adobe Story, Adobe Audition & Adobe After Effects.
*Produce original video projects demonstrating application of editing skills and concepts learned throughout course.
*Develop understanding of various elements/strategies utilized to effectively communicate persuasive and informational messages to identified audiences.
*Develop effective use of creating and crediting a variety of resources utilized in visual projects.
*Apply and strengthen critical-thinking skills to effectively analyze and evaluate various projects—identifying and defending why some approaches/solutions to visual communication might be better than others.
*Develop effective time-management skills necessary to plan and organize for successful completion of projects.

9.04        Export final composition utilizing Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder

10.00     Explore authoring options for DVD, Blu-Ray, and the Web
10.01     Prepare the final output sequence in Premiere Pro
10.02     Explore Adobe Encore utilizing Dynamic Link
10.03     Utilize DVD navigation and programming menus
10.04     Evaluate and test a project
10.05     Output a DVD, Blu-Ray Disc, or Flash project

GRADING SCALE: 
90 - 100 = A
80 -  90  = B
70 -  80  = C
60 -  70  = D
     < 60  = F    
75% of Total Semester Grade: Lessons, Quizzes/Tests, Projects
25% of Total Semester Grade: Final Exam/ACA Certification Exam (if applicable)       

LATE WORK POLICY
Video projects are a critical component of this Honors Course. They can last anywhere from 3-days to 3-weeks depending on the type of project. All projects will have a specific due date and students are expected to utilized appropriate time-management skills in order to complete and submit their projects by this given date. Based on the circumstances, there may be sufficient reason to extend a project due date for a student or the class as a whole, but this is at my discretion and only occurs for rare documented situations (such as a long-term illness, or school-related technology issues, etc.).  Any work not submitted by the due date will be a ZERO in the grade book.
