OVERVIEW
Welcome to Study Skills! This course is designed for students with IEP’s who require support for their academics and/or organization. It will address numerous educational areas, strategies and skills. The expectation for students in Study Skills is for them to utilize the class to meet their individual needs for homework support, additional instruction/re-teaching, and organization in order to perform at their highest level in the general curriculum.
MATERIALS:
Agenda
Writing instruments-pencils
Headphone; mouse
3 pocket folders in these colors: blue, red, and green (one color for each subject)
1 box of Kleenex
Textbooks-any that you need for this class
CLASSROOM POLICIES:
Students are required to be prepared for class on a daily basis. Taking care of all personal needs before they arrive is also expected. Rules and procedures as explained in the Weddington High School Handbook are also expected to be followed. No cell phones are allowed to be out during my class, unless I specifically allow it for educational or organizational reasons.
GRADING
Students are graded on their participation in the class on a daily basis (working with the teacher, peers, or individually), keeping up their grades in all classes, turning all work in for all classes, proper agenda procedures, daily skill/classwork and utilizing their time wisely. There will be NO HOMEWORK in this course as all assignments I give will be ones that can be completed during class time. They receive a weekly grade based on these areas to be averaged at the end of each grading period: Agenda 10%, Participation 10%, Goal-iReady 40%, and Classwork 40%.
My goal:
To work toward meeting each student’s IEP goals and objectives and to give each student the guidance and tools they need to be successful.
