Welcome to the start of a new school year! 

This year, students will be studying world history up until approximately 1400.  Our objectives have been divided into seven units and each unit focuses on several ancient civilizations in one particular region.  In these different civilizations we will study the different people who made the civilization famous and the culture of those who surrounded them and tie it into who we are or who we shouldn’t be as 21st century learners.

Course Description and Objectives:

 

Focus: World Geography, History & Culture: Patterns of Continuity and Change

 

Time Period: Beginnings of Human Society to the Emergence of the First Global Age (1450).  

 

We will primarily be using the curriculum, History Alive, The Story of the World & Inspire Ed, to navigate the world. The following is an overview of the curriculum for this year.

 

Unit 0 - Reading and Writing like a Social Scientist

Unit 1 - Neolithic Revolution 

Unit 2 -  Emerging Civilizations of the Middle East 

Unit 3 - Civilizations of Asia

Unit 4 - Civilizations of Africa

Unit 5 - Civilizations of America

Unit 6 - Classical Greece & Rome

Unit 7 - Medieval Europe
